Burberry Makeup - Worth the money?

I recently ventured out of my comfort zone and got some Burberry makeup while shopping at a Sephora in New York City.  Since my local Sephora doesn't carry Burberry makeup, I thought I'd pick some up and give it a try.  All I bought were face products and one tube of lipstick, so I didn't get any of the blushes or eye shadows, which I hear are quite good.

I got the Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base in Nude Radiance No. 1 ($48), the Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Foundation in Ochre No. 20 ($52), the Burberry Cashmere Concealer in Honey No. 4 ($40), and the Lip Velvet Lipstick in Rosewood No. 421 ($34).

The Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base is supposed to be used as a primer to give your skin a fresh "glow." This product was incredibly light weight and went on the skin easily.  I actually liked this underneath some of my more matte foundations to give it more of a dewy finish.  Underneath the Burberry Luminous Fluid Foundation, however, it made me looked way too luminous than desired.  I ended up returning this item because I already had a deluxe sample size that I was using and didn't feel like I would use this too often to justify the $48 price tag.

Fresh Glow Luminous Base Nude Radiance No. 1

The Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Foundation is a very sheer foundation.  So if you're like me, and need something with more coverage, this foundation is not for you!  It claims to be build-able, but I didn't find it to be build-able at all.  What I did like about this foundation is that it is very hydrating and it gave the skin a healthy glow.  Like I previously said, however, if you use this with the fluid base, it gives too much of a glow.  I ended up returning this product because I was incredibly frustrated putting this on.  At one point, I put on about 3 layers of this foundation with the Burberry Cashmere Concealer and still found that it looked like I had zero coverage.

Now about the Cashmere Concealer.  This is also a very sheer concealer, which in my opinion, defeats the purpose of a concealer.  I also think I bought the wrong color.  I should've gone one shade lighter because Honey No. 4 is quite close to my skin tone.  Every time I wear this concealer, I feel like there's no point because it just goes on a creates a glow look to the areas I'm trying to conceal.  It also has those sponge tip applicators where you twist the bottom and product comes out of the sponge.  I don't like concealer that comes like this because at some point, it'll become messy and the thought of this sponge that I keep putting on my face day after day, kind of grosses me out.  That's just me though.  I didn't return the concealer, though, it's quite hefty at $40.  I didn't feel it was right to return used concealer that has a sponge tip applicator!

The Lip Velvet Lipstick is actually a really good lipstick.  It is semi-matte finish that's pigmented, but not so much to the point where you get too much color.  This was the one thing out of the items I purchased that I really like.  The lipstick feels hydrating for a matte lipstick and lasts quite long throughout the day.

I think all the Burberry face products are supposed to be very light, hydrating and sheer.  So if you're not the type to want a glowy face and need more coverage, this line is not for you!  However, if you're looking for minimal more natural looking makeup, this is perfect.  Unfortunately, the base products didn't work out for me, so in my opinion, they are not worth the money.  Again, I loved the lipstick, so at $34, it's not that bad for high-end makeup (pretty similar to Chanel prices).  I think I might try some of their eye shadows and other colored products to see how I like them.  Let me know if you've tried any of the other Burberry makeup and what you thought of them!

2015 Makeup Year in Review

2015 is swiftly coming to a close and this year has gone by so quickly!  This year came with a lot of ups and downs, but for the most part was a good year full of travel, discovering new things and getting to know my own style and being comfortable with who I am.

As I reflect back on 2015, it had definitely been a year of discovery in makeup.  I've definitely become more daring with my makeup looks this year and was open to trying new things, since for the past 10 years all I've been using is Bare Minerals makeup.  Bare Minerals is amazing and I still love it, but I feel like venturing out of that brand and line made me discover so many other things that look and feel better on my skin.  That being said, here are my 2015 beauty favorites!
